Best Ghostbusters Pinball Mods

Few pinball machines have an atmosphere quite like Ghostbusters.
The combination of the ghost-hunting theme, the dark artwork, the bright green slime and all those instantly recognisable movie details makes it a fantastic machine to customise. Designed by John Trudeau, Ghostbusters is already visually distinctive, but a few well-chosen mods can make the whole machine feel even more like the Ghostbusters universe.
Here are some of our favourite upgrades.
WizBlades: Bring the Ghosts Into the Cabinet
If there's one mod that changes the look of Ghostbusters immediately, it's WizBlades.
The dark cabinet interior suddenly becomes part of the artwork, surrounding the playfield with more colour and atmosphere. We have versions for the Pro and Premium, as well as a special LE version featuring that fantastic green slime detail.
It's a particularly good match for Ghostbusters because the green accents become much more dramatic once they're surrounding the playfield.
You can see all the available options in our Ghostbusters Pinball Mods collection.

The Containment Unit WizDoor
This might be our favourite Ghostbusters detail.
The Containment Unit WizDoors takes inspiration from the red containment unit in the Ghostbusters' basement, where they keep the captured ghosts.
It gives the coin door a completely different personality and fits the theme almost perfectly.
The coin door is such a large, visible area of the cabinet that it's easy to underestimate how much difference a good WizDoors can make.

WizAprons
The WizAprons are another great way to carry the Ghostbusters artwork further into the playfield. We have a version for LE, and this one is a particularly nice example, with the artwork fitting around the details of the playfield and adding another layer of Ghostbusters atmosphere right where you're looking during every game.

WizBats: A Little Ghostbusting Every Game
You spend an enormous amount of time looking at the flippers.
That's why WizBats are such an easy win, adding another little piece of themed artwork directly into your field of view every time you play.
They're quick to install, don't change gameplay and add just enough extra detail without making the machine feel overloaded.

WizWings: Finishing the Cabinet
The hinges are another small area that can easily be forgotten.
Premium WizWings add artwork to those hinge plates and help complete the transition between the cabinet and backbox.
Again, they're available for all three Ghostbusters versions.
They're not the first mod we'd install, but once you've already customised the main areas of the machine, these little details can make the whole thing feel much more finished.

The Complete Ghostbusters Look
Ghostbusters is a great example of why you don't need twenty different modifications to transform a pinball machine.
Start with the WizBlades.
Then pick a couple of details that suit your taste, such as the Containment Unit WizDoors, WizBats or WizWings.
That's enough to make a very noticeable difference while still keeping the original Ghostbusters design at the centre of the machine.
If you're new to pinball mods, our Your First Pinball Mod: Where Should You Start? explains why we normally recommend starting with the upgrades that give you the biggest visual impact.
And if you're wondering why blades have become such a staple of pinball customisation, Why WizBlades Are One of the Best Pinball Mods goes into the idea in more detail.
Ghostbusters is also one of the machines that proves that a game can be incredibly difficult and still be hugely rewarding. We included it in our Hardest Modern Pinball Machines Ever Made article for exactly that reason.
