Arcade Edition, Special Edition or Collector's Edition?

Few modern pinball machines offer as much visual personality as Sonic the Hedgehog.

Designed by Steve Ritchie, every version delivers the same fast, flowing gameplay, but each model offers its own unique look and collector appeal.

So which one should you choose?

The good news is that there's no wrong answer.

Arcade Edition

The Arcade Edition is the purest way to experience Sonic.

It delivers the complete gameplay experience while keeping the package simple and accessible.

For many collectors, this is also the perfect version to customise. Adding premium artwork upgrades allows you to personalise the machine while keeping the clean, factory-inspired look.

Special Edition

The Special Edition adds extra visual flair straight from the factory.

The blue powder coating looks fantastic and the included topper gives the machine even more presence without changing the gameplay.

Since the artwork remains largely the same as the Arcade Edition, choosing between these two versions often comes down to how much you value the additional presentation.

Collector's Edition

If you're looking for the most exclusive version, the Collector's Edition is hard to beat.

The striking red powder coating, the engraved "Gotta Go Fast" lockdown bar and the spectacular animated topper create one of Stern's most impressive premium packages.

Combined with its limited production, it's the version many collectors dream of owning.

Customising Your Sonic

Whichever version you choose, Sonic is an outstanding machine for customisation.

Our Sonic AE/SE WizPanels continue the artwork across the speaker panel, while our exclusive Sonic Genesis AE/SE WizDoors feature artwork inspired by the iconic opening screen of the original Sega Genesis game—a detail that long-time Sonic fans immediately recognise.

If you'd like even more inspiration, our Best Sonic Pinball Mods guide showcases some of our favourite upgrades for all three models.

Which One Would We Choose?

If value is your priority, the Arcade Edition offers everything that makes Sonic such a fantastic game.

If you love premium presentation, the Special Edition strikes an excellent balance.

And if you're a serious Sonic collector who wants the rarest and most spectacular version, the Collector's Edition is the obvious choice.

Whichever model you choose, you're getting the same fast Steve Ritchie gameplay that makes Sonic one of the most exciting modern Stern releases.
