Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye is already shaping up to be one of Stern's most exciting modern releases.

Designed by Elliot Eismin, the game combines spectacular toys, incredible artwork and fast, satisfying gameplay with one of the world's most iconic franchises. Whether you're an Autobot loyalist or a Decepticon supporter, every version delivers an outstanding experience.

So which model should you buy: Pro, Premium or Limited Edition?

Let's break down the differences.

What Every Version Includes

The good news is that all three models are excellent.

No matter which version you choose, you'll still enjoy the two headline features that define the game.

First is Megatron's arm-mounted cannon, which fires the ball onto the playfield and creates one of the most memorable moments in modern pinball.

The second is the large Optimus Prime bash toy, giving players a satisfying physical target throughout the game.

These are the centrepieces of Transformers, and they're present on every model.

Pro – Outstanding Value

For many buyers, the Pro will be the obvious choice.

It delivers the complete gameplay experience while remaining the most affordable way to own the machine.

The biggest omission is Soundwave.

On the Premium and LE, Soundwave physically captures and locks balls inside his cassette deck before releasing them during multiball.

It's a fantastic mechanical feature that adds both visual appeal and gameplay excitement.

The Pro replaces this with software handling rather than a physical lock mechanism.

Visually, however, the Pro has its own personality.

Its translite is beautifully split between the Autobots on one side and the Decepticons on the other, and our Transformers Pro WizPanels continue that same divided artwork across the speaker panel for a seamless factory-quality appearance.

The Pro also does not include Stern's Expression Lighting, making our Transformers Full Cut WizBlades the perfect choice if you want uninterrupted artwork across the cabinet.

Premium – The Sweet Spot

For many collectors, the Premium offers the best overall balance.

The biggest upgrade is the addition of Soundwave, whose cassette deck physically locks balls before multiball begins.

It's one of the coolest toys in the game and adds another memorable mechanical feature to an already excellent layout.

The Premium also features gorgeous Cybertron-inspired artwork with rich blue tones that give the cabinet a completely different personality from the Pro.

Our Transformers Premium WizDoors extend that futuristic artwork across the front of the cabinet, while our Transformers WizEmblems complete the lockdown bar area with artwork designed to match all three editions.

Like the Pro, the Premium doesn't include Expression Lighting from the factory, so owners can choose either our Full Cut or EL Cut WizBlades depending on their future upgrade plans.

Limited Edition – Built for Collectors

The Limited Edition is the ultimate collector's version.

Gameplay remains largely the same as the Premium, but Stern adds several premium cosmetic upgrades that make the machine feel truly special.

The cabinet trim is beautifully divided between the two factions, with Autobot colours on one side and Decepticon colours on the other, creating one of the most striking cabinet presentations Stern has produced.

The LE also includes Expression Lighting both around the speaker panel and inside the cabinet.

Our Transformers LE WizPanels are precision cut to preserve every Expression Lighting effect, allowing the lighting to shine through exactly as intended.

What About Grimlock?

Another fun feature shared by the Pro and Premium is Grimlock, the fan-favourite Dinobot.

While the overall feature remains, collectors will notice differences in how certain parts are presented between models, with higher-end versions receiving more premium finishes and detailing.
