A Pinball Adventure That Feels Like a Real D&D Campaign

Few modern pinball machines capture the feeling of their original license as successfully as Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant's Eye.

Designed by legendary pinball designer Brian Eddy, with software by Dwight Sullivan, this machine doesn't simply use the Dungeons & Dragons name. It recreates the feeling of a true tabletop adventure, complete with character progression, quests, inventory, monsters, and an evolving campaign that unfolds over multiple games.

Rather than chasing a traditional high score, players embark on an epic journey through the Forgotten Realms, making every game feel like another chapter in an ongoing adventure.

One of the Deepest Rule Sets Ever Created

If there's one thing Dungeons & Dragons has always been known for, it's depth.

The pinball machine embraces that philosophy completely.

Players choose character classes, battle iconic monsters, collect equipment, complete quests and gradually build their progress throughout an extended campaign. Thanks to Stern's Insider Connected platform, much of that progression can even be saved between games, creating one of the deepest rule sets ever seen in a commercial pinball machine.

This isn't simply another modern pinball game.

It's an RPG hidden inside a pinball machine.

The Dragon That Watches Every Shot

The visual centrepiece of the machine is impossible to ignore.

A huge animated red dragon dominates the upper playfield, constantly reacting to the action below. Rath the Relentless tracks the ball with multi-axis movement, blocks shots, and even breathes fire by launching multiple pinballs directly from its mouth during gameplay. It's one of the most advanced mechanical toys Stern has ever created and instantly becomes the star of every game.

Combined with the spectacular fantasy artwork by Vincent Proce, the machine feels alive from every angle.

Fantasy Artwork Deserves Fantasy Mods

Dungeons & Dragons is one of those rare machines where the artwork extends the storytelling.

Dragons, castles, forgotten ruins, magical creatures and dark fantasy environments cover every part of the cabinet.

That made it one of our favourite machines to design artwork for.

Rather than competing with Stern's original art, our goal was to extend the Forgotten Realms even further across the cabinet, making the machine feel even more immersive.

Our Favourite Dungeons & Dragons Pinball Mods

One of the biggest visual transformations comes from our WizBlades.

The large cabinet sides become an extension of the original fantasy artwork, dramatically increasing the visual impact every time the playfield is raised.

Our laminated WizPanels continue that same artwork across the speaker panel, creating a much more complete appearance while maintaining a factory-quality finish.

To complete the front of the machine, our oversized WizEmblems transform the lockdown bar into another piece of the adventure, matching the fantasy artwork across the rest of the cabinet.

Why WizBlades Are Perfect for Fantasy-Themed Machines

Fantasy themes naturally benefit from artwork that extends beyond the playfield.

Large landscapes, castles, dragons and magical worlds feel even more impressive when the artwork continues into the cabinet instead of ending abruptly at the edge of the playfield.

That's one of the reasons WizBlades have become one of the most popular upgrades for collectors looking to create a more immersive machine.
