Holy Rumor Mill! Is Batman ’66 Getting a 60th Anniversary Pinball Machine in 2027?

The pinball rumor mill never sleeps. Just when you think the next big release is already on the horizon, another classic licence appears in the conversation, another remaster starts generating speculation, and collectors begin wondering which of their favourite themes might return next.
But one possibility stands out from the crowd: could Batman ’66 be getting a 60th Anniversary pinball release in 2027?
The original Stern Batman ’66 remains one of the most distinctive machines of the modern era. Its colourful artwork, rotating Batcave mechanism and wonderfully over-the-top interpretation of the classic television series make it a collector favourite. A new anniversary edition would certainly attract attention.
Nothing has been officially confirmed, so for now, this belongs firmly in the rumour category. But it is an interesting possibility, and it is far from the only one worth watching.
Let's look at the pinball rumours currently generating interest.
Batman ’66: A 60th Anniversary Return?
The timing is certainly tempting.
The original Batman television series premiered in 1966, making 2026 its 60th anniversary. A pinball release celebrating that milestone would make obvious sense, although a machine arriving in 2027 would be a year late for the anniversary itself.
The original Stern machine, released in 2016, was already a celebration of the show's 50th anniversary. Designed by George Gomez, it combined an exceptionally colourful presentation with a surprisingly deep ruleset and the campy humour that made the television series so memorable.
Would a new version simply revisit the original, or could it offer a substantially different experience? A fresh layout, updated software or a new interpretation of the show's characters would give collectors plenty to get excited about.
There is also the artwork. The original illustrations helped make Batman ’66 one of the most visually recognisable machines in modern pinball. It remains a fantastic example of how a game can have its own artistic identity.
Until something more concrete emerges, however, we should treat the 60th Anniversary idea as speculation rather than an upcoming release.
Collectors can still explore our existing Batman ’66 Pinball Mods to see how custom artwork can enhance this classic machine.

The Goonies: Spooky's Next Big Adventure?
Another rumour that refuses to go away is The Goonies.
The classic 1985 adventure film seems like a natural fit for Spooky Pinball. Its treasure hunts, booby traps, memorable characters and underground adventures offer plenty of possibilities for physical mechanisms and playful pinball rules.
There has also been a particularly intriguing clue: a Goonies logo was discovered in publicly distributed Beetlejuice pinball software. That is more tangible than a simple wish list, although it does not prove that a machine is in development or establish when one might arrive.
Spooky has a history of embracing cult films and distinctive themes, which makes this one worth watching. A Goonies machine could be an especially good opportunity for creative toys and an adventure-driven ruleset.
For now, though, we are waiting for an official announcement.
Ghostbusters Remastered: Who Are We Going to Call?
Ghostbusters is another familiar name in remaster discussions.
Stern's original Ghostbusters machine has a distinctive visual style, a memorable collection of mechanisms and a challenging layout. It also has the kind of instantly recognisable theme that could appeal to both existing collectors and people discovering pinball for the first time.
The possibility of a remastered edition has been circulating in the community, but no official release has been confirmed.
A return could offer an opportunity to revisit the original machine with updated presentation, software or other changes. Exactly what a remaster would include remains unknown, so there is little point pretending we already know the details.
One thing is certain: Ghostbusters remains a brilliant candidate for custom artwork. Our Ghostbusters Pinball Mods show how the machine's iconic imagery can be carried throughout the cabinet.

TRON Remastered: Back to the Grid?
TRON is another title that frequently appears whenever pinball fans discuss potential remasters.
The original TRON: Legacy machine has a striking identity built around neon colours, digital landscapes and one of the most memorable soundtracks in modern pinball. Its visual design still feels distinctive today.
A remastered edition could be an opportunity to revisit that world with a fresh presentation. But would it retain the original's identity, or take the concept in a new direction?
That is the interesting question. TRON already has a strong foundation, so any new version would need to offer something meaningful while preserving what made the original special.
For collectors who already own the machine, our TRON Pinball Mods offer inspiration for extending its futuristic aesthetic.
As with Ghostbusters, however, the remaster remains a rumour rather than a confirmed project.
Ozzy Osbourne: Still Waiting for the Prince of Darkness
An Ozzy Osbourne pinball machine has been discussed for a long time, and the idea continues to attract attention.
Musically, it is an obvious fit. Between Ozzy's solo career, Black Sabbath's legacy and decades of iconic imagery, there would be no shortage of material for a soundtrack, playfield toys or spectacular artwork.
The challenge would be turning that enormous musical legacy into a cohesive pinball experience. A great music-themed machine needs more than a collection of famous songs: it needs a layout and ruleset that make players want to keep coming back.
Could an Ozzy machine deliver that? Absolutely. Has a release been confirmed? No.
For now, the Prince of Darkness remains firmly in rumour territory.
Van Halen: Another Rock Legend on the Radar
Van Halen is another music-themed rumour that has stayed alive in pinball discussions.
We have already explored this possibility in our article, Van Halen Pinball Rumor: Could This Be Jersey Jack Pinball's Next Music-Themed Hit?.
The band's catalogue offers plenty of potential for a high-energy machine, from its instantly recognisable guitar sound to its spectacular live performances and album artwork.
Jersey Jack Pinball has experience with ambitious music-themed games, making the possibility particularly interesting. Still, there is no confirmed announcement to establish that a Van Halen machine is actually in production.
It remains one to watch.
Which Rumour Will Become Reality First?
That is what makes this moment so interesting for pinball collectors.
Batman ’66 could return for another anniversary celebration. The Goonies could bring a new adventure to Spooky Pinball. Ghostbusters and TRON might receive the remaster treatment, while Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen could bring two more legendary musical catalogues to the playfield.
These are very different possibilities, and the evidence behind each one varies. A clue hidden in software is not the same as an official announcement, and a popular rumour does not necessarily mean a manufacturer has secured a licence.
For now, Batman ’66 is the anniversary rumour we will be watching most closely. The combination of the 60th anniversary, the popularity of the original machine and its enormous artistic potential makes the idea particularly exciting.
But which of these would you most like to see become reality?
And if you could choose just one, would you go for a new Batman ’66, a Goonies adventure, a Ghostbusters or TRON remaster, or a new rock machine featuring Ozzy Osbourne or Van Halen?
The rumour mill is turning. Now we wait to see which manufacturer makes the next move.
